Shipping Policy
Facilitating resource only
Troop Trade is a closed-community platform that connects verified members. We facilitate listings only. We are not responsible for shipping outcomes, carrier decisions, delivery times, lost or damaged parcels, customs holds, or any costs related to fulfillment. All shipping arrangements, payments, and risks are between the buyer and the seller.
APO / FPO / DPO addresses
The U.S. Military Postal Service (MPS) operates APO (Army/Air Force), FPO (Navy/Marine/Coast Guard), and DPO (Diplomatic) addresses worldwide. Mail and parcels sent to these addresses are treated as domestic U.S. mail by USPS — domestic postage rates apply even when the recipient is overseas.
- USPS Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, First-Class, and Media Mail are accepted to most APO/FPO/DPO ZIPs.
- A completed PS Form 2976 / 2976-A customs declaration is required for most parcels.
- Delivery transit times are not guaranteed — APO/FPO/DPO routing depends on military logistics.
- UPS and FedEx do not deliver to APO/FPO/DPO addresses. Use USPS only.
General delivery to a base
For domestic CONUS installations without an APO address, members may use General Delivery at the installation's servicing post office, or accept parcels at on-base UPS/FedEx mailrooms where authorized. Confirm acceptance with your installation's mailroom before shipping — base policies vary.
Prohibited & restricted items
The MPS enforces strict restrictions. Commonly prohibited items to APO/FPO/DPO addresses include firearms and ammunition, explosives, hazardous materials (lithium batteries outside an installed device, aerosols, flammables), alcohol, tobacco, certain electronics, perishable food, and obscene material. Each destination country and installation may impose additional restrictions. The shipper is solely responsible for compliance — see the current USPS APO/FPO/DPO restrictions list before mailing.
Vehicles & large items
Vehicles, motorcycles, trailers, and oversized items are not eligible for MPS or general delivery. Buyers and sellers must arrange in-person pickup, POV shipment, or a commercial auto-transport carrier directly. Troop Trade does not coordinate or insure vehicle transport.
Exclusions & disclaimer
Troop Trade makes no warranty regarding shipping eligibility, rates, transit times, or successful delivery. The "ship free, base to base" guidance reflects general USPS practice for APO/FPO/DPO mail and is not a promise that any specific shipment will qualify, arrive intact, or arrive on time. Buyers and sellers accept all risk of loss, damage, customs seizure, return-to-sender fees, and any other shipping cost.
